New EAS Thematic Group proposed: Gadoid Enhancement for Aquaculture and Restoration (GEAR)

Sebastian Politis, Senior Researcher with the Fish Biology Group at the National Institute for Aquatic Resources, Technical University of Denmark (DTU), is proposing a new EAS Thematic Group dedicated to gadoid fish, to be known as GEAR – Gadoid Enhancement for Aquaculture and Restoration.

EAS Thematic Groups act as a "network within a network," bringing together members with a shared interest in a specific species or niche research topic. Over the years, EAS has hosted successful groups covering shellfish, eels, flat oysters, and percid fish — the latter now continued under the Hungarian National Aquaculture Technology and Innovation Platform.

GEAR aims to build a similar community around gadoid species, supporting research and collaboration on their enhancement for both aquaculture and restoration purposes.
