The European Aquaculture Society (EAS) participated in World Aquaculture 2025, organised by the World Aquaculture Society and its Asian Pacific Chapter, held from 10 to 13 November in Hyderabad, India

This major global event brought together 3,600 participants from 63 countries, including 90 students, reflecting the strong international engagement and momentum within the aquaculture sector.

EAS was represented by Ana ViskovićProject and Programme Manager, who delivered the oral presentation “AWARE Aquaponics from Wastewater Reclamation” in the session Aquaponics and Other Systems.

EAS was pleased to contribute to this global exchange of knowledge and to strengthen visibility for EU-funded initiatives such as AWARE, promoting circular, sustainable aquaculture systems and the reuse of water resources.

We look forward to continued collaboration with our global partners and to supporting innovation, knowledge transfer, and sustainability in aquaculture.

About the AWARE Project
The AWARE project aims to build the first European Recirculation Aquaponic System (RAS) that uses reclaimed water with zero residues to produce fish and vegetables fit for human consumption.
It seeks to:

  • Establish a new business model for the economic exploitation of this value chain by lakeside, riverside, and urban communities.

  • Provide a scientific evidence base to inform regulations while overcoming policy barriers for scaling up and commercialising this novel solution.
