As many EAS members will remember, we presented a special gift to Linda Aspeslagh at our Aquaculture Europe 2022 event in Rimini last October – it being the last AE event that Linda would be participating at before her retirement. Linda started working for EAS in 1984 and she will retire on June 30th after 39 years of dedicated service. We will indeed be sad to see Linda leave.
We are introducing Plenary Speakers at the Aquaculture Europe 2023 that will take place in Vienna, Austria, from September 18-21, 2023.

With the farm-to-fork strategy, the European Union recognises the need to strengthen its food production systems. As demand for fish protein increases, researchers and innovators are called to action to develop more efficient, sustainable, and resilient approaches for aquaculture. AWARE, a recently financed European research project, has two words for it: Aquaponics and Wastewater.
The Summer School is a four-week course for University students (BSc., MSc., Ph.D.) within which you are involved in a small research project, working in very well-equipped laboratories under the guidance of experienced researchers of the FFPW USB.
The work in laboratories is supplemented by excursions to fish farms and visits to other interesting places, such as the Český Krumlov town, the Třeboň town, Fishery in Třeboň Hld. Inc., Fishery in Nové Hrady and many other interesting places in the Czech Republic.
At its 2022 Annual General Assembly, held on Wednesday, September 28th at the Palacongressi di Rimini, Italy during Aquaculture Europe 2022, EAS members unanimously approved the EAS 2022-2024 Board of Directors, following elections held earlier this year.
Our three finalists this year were Fernando Naya, Santiago Pintos and Niklas Warwas. Each of them had 3 minutes to present their work to the audience and to win an additional prize of 300 EUR.
The winner was Santiago Pintos who presented "EFFECT OF A PROBIOTIC MIX ON FISH WELFARE AND STRESS RESPONSE: INFLUENCE OF THE TIME OF DAY OF ADMINISTRATION".
