Overview:
This presentation explored how in-feed supplementation with distinct yeast cell wall (YCW) products can enhance mucosal robustness and resilience in various fish species. Multiple trials demonstrated positive effects on both the quality and quantity of skin mucus, including increased antimicrobial activity and accelerated wound healing. These parameters were tested under both ideal and stressful conditions, including exposure to pathogens, management practices, and environmental challenges, in salmonids, Mediterranean species, and model fish. The session highlighted how functional feeds supplemented with YCW can serve as powerful tools for sustainable health management in aquaculture.
