12th International Symposium on Reproductive Physiology of Fish

Crete, Greece, 15-19 May 2023

“Reproductive science for aquaculture production and conservation”

The next International Symposium on Reproductive of Physiology of Fish (12th ISFRP) will be held next year in Crete, Greece (14-19 May 2023), hosted by the Hellenic Center for Marine Research (HCMR). The venue of the symposium will be the 5-star Aldemar Knossos Royal Hotel, located in Hersonissos at a distance of 25 km from the capital city of Heraklion (Iraklion).

The Symposium was first organized in 1977, by the first biologists involved in fish reproductive physiology. At that time, the fish farming industry was in its embryonic phase, and the only fish with significant production were carp and trout. The organizers included some of those who over the following years have played a central role in the study of the reproductive axis of fish, in the development of methods to control the reproductive process, and thus in the production of fertilized eggs in aquaculture. People such as Rolant Billard, Bernard Breton and Alexis Fostier (France), Edward M. Donaldson, Larry W. Crim and Richard E. Peter (Canada), Henk J.T. Goos and Jan G.D. Lambert (Netherlands), and Zvi Yaron and Yonathan Zohar (Israel) have contributed significantly not only to the field of Reproductive Physiology, but also to the development of the modern aquaculture industry.

Since then, the ISFRP has been held every 4 years in different parts of the world, and is attended by more and more scientists in the field worldwide, as well as by many, many graduate students. The Symposium is renowned for its interesting single-session scientific program, lasting for a week and each time including the latest developments in the field of fish reproductive physiology. It has also gained a great reputation for the "family" atmosphere that prevails during the symposium, which is encouraged by various activities. These include the opening and closing dinner of the Symposium, the two separate Poster sessions, during which there is an exchange of views on the papers presented, and the excursion organized for all participants.

Registration fees are 350€ for early-bird regular registration, and 250€ for early-bird student registration, including lunches and coffee breaks. Abstract submission has begun and will be concluded at the end of December 2022. Updated information can be found at https://12isrpf.weebly.com.
